The 104th session of the Nebraska Legislature promises to be an eventful one for Nebraska’s ELO advocates and supporters.
With seventeen new Senators and Governor Ricketts taking office, Beyond School Bells will facilitate outreach activities to help our elected officials better understand the importance of school-community partnerships to provide more Nebraska youth with more opportunities to get hands on, engaging learning experiences during the after-school hours and over the summer months.
This outreach begins in now. On January 14th, Governor Pete Ricketts will sign a proclamation designating January 19th – 23rd, Expanded Learning Opportunities week in Nebraska. During that week, we will host an informational luncheon for Senators and Legislative staff and will fill the Capitol Rotunda with national, state and local information about ELOs. Following these January events we will post updates on our website – so visit often to stay connected and up to speed with developments in the next Legislative session.
Other outreach activities will follow as we move deeper into 2015. These will include briefings on ELO quality, STEM and Summer Learning Loss. We will post information about these events on our website and will use this newsletter and our website to keep you up to date about upcoming events.
